Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras. A fossil megalodon shark tooth with pyrite inlay, presented on a custom display stand. Otodus megalodon is the largest predatory shark known and is identified mainly from teeth and vertebrae, as its cartilaginous skeleton rarely fossilized. Like modern sharks, it shed and replaced teeth throughout its life. The blade shows polished dark brown enamel with a central chevron-shaped field of inlaid pyrite, bordered by lighter tan serrated cutting edges. The root retains its natural textured surface. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. Item # 204942
