MEDSAN - Ryu at the Arcade (ゲームセンターのリュウ) - UNIQUE WORK

There is Only One in the World - Edition 1/1 In this landscape format, Medsan places us on a wet sidewalk at night, in front of the large display window of an arcade hall where Ryu, the Street Fighter fighter, plays alone. We see him from behind. The ends of his red headband fall onto his shoulder, and he wears his white kimono with torn sleeves, his black belt, bare feet on the checkered tile. Leaning over the Street Fighter II arcade machine by Capcom, hands on the controls, he fixes the screen where two fighters duel under the KO word. To his left, Mortal Kombat and Space Invaders are off, in front of an empty red stool. A white neon light illuminates the dark green walls and a poster proclaiming “PLAY MORE GAMES.” The word ARCADE is displayed on the glass door. Outside, the street is deserted. A streetlamp reflects on the rain-soaked pavement along the brick façades with yellow windows, and a black trash bin sits at the corner of the wall. The green of the arcade blends with brick red and the blue of the night. It looks like a champion is still training while the city sleeps. A nocturnal, nostalgic scene, ideal for adding a retro touch to a collector’s space for video games and pop culture.
