All auctions / Contemporary Art / MEDSAN - Doraemon Summer Pool (夏のプールのドラえもん) - UNIQUE WORK
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1 On this square format, Medsan sends Doraemon, the blue robot-cat from Fujiko F. Fujio's manga, on vacation in a pool in the height of summer. Lying in a pink inner tube, one arm behind the head and the feet raised, he closes his eyes with a broad smile and holds in one hand a large glass of orange juice garnished with a slice, a red hibiscus and a striped straw; his red collar and yellow bell gleam under the light. The turquoise water ripples on the blue tiling. To the left, in front of a white villa, a red parasol shelters a wooden deck chair where a blue-and-white striped towel dries, and on the wall a palm tree poster surmounts the words “GOOD SUMMER DAYS.” In the distance, behind the palms and pink bougainvillea, a bay of deep blue opens onto a city of white towers, mountains and three sailboats. The blue, white and a few touches of red compose an afternoon where nothing else matters. A cool and joyful room, ideal for adding a touch of Japanese summer to a collector’s interior or to a Doraemon fan’s space.
