"Among the Ruins of the Labyrinth" is a unique work by Maurizio Rapiti. The technique used is oil and fluorescent acrylics on canvas. Compared to the artist's other subjects, this painting is not a reinterpretation copy of a famous painting, but an original work completely invented by Rapiti. The skein in the painting is made with fluorescent colors; when illuminated with a wood lamp, the red “lights up.” In photo 4 I tried to show the difference of the work in presence and in the absence of UV light, but unfortunately it can only give a vague idea of the actual effect, because it is very difficult to photograph the Fluorescent effect. The painting is framed as seen in photo 3. In recent years several magazines have dedicated articles to Maurizio Rapiti's art (examples in photos 5-6-7). A copy of UpArte (photo 7) will be shipped along with the painting to whoever buys the work. Since 2017 Rapiti has returned to dedicating himself to the masterpieces of the past, but this time filtered through the lens of a maturity capable of using them as a tool to express his own personality. Formal care and the pursuit of aesthetic pleasure thus remain the basis of works that at first glance seem to mock the sacred monsters of classical painting, while a closer look reveals a critique, tinged with irony, of our times. For several years the artist has been dedicated to poster art, posting prints of his works on the metal front panels of streets (see the last 4 photos). Rapiti has recently collaborated with the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, creating a work whose photo and the video of its making were shared on the official Olympic social pages (@Olympics) https://www.instagram.com/p/DVE60Iqgn9J/ Over the years Rapiti has also had the opportunity to collaborate with institutions; on two occasions he created the posters for the events of “Confindustria Cisambiente,” and in 2021 he produced the image for the international conference on Dante, “A Great Excluded Among the Excluded.” Three working days are needed to prepare the shipment.
