This sale offers a set of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time as a result of his discoveries, encounters and affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with primitive arts: sensitive to the strength of forms, the simplicity of volumes and the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balance, led them to collect these works and, sometimes, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s perspective and a fascination with forms coming from elsewhere.
