Authentic fragment of Martian meteorite, officially classified as NWA 13190. It belongs to the Shergottites, a specific class of rocky meteorites originating from the planet Mars, formed as a result of volcanic activity and blasted into space due to an asteroid impact. It was found in 2019 in North Africa, specifically in Algeria. The protective capsule packaging (often called a slab) includes a graphic of the red planet and the Italian label "Shergottite Marziana", a format typical used by specialized retailers and by members of the IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) to securely store samples that are so small and precious.
