Pair of ceramic vases with oxblood red flame glaze by Marius Giuge - Vallauris A superb coordinated Mid-Century Modern ensemble, circa 1960, comprising a tall bottle vase and its matching soliflore cup. These workshop-made artisanal pieces from the period were produced in a limited series and entirely hand-decorated. They originate from the famous Vallauris art pottery and bear the master potter’s signature, Marius Giuge. The set is distinguished by a magnificent, spectacular oxblood red and black enameled glaze with white textured sea-foam-like projections. The fine material offers a superb orange translucency when lit from the inside, testimony to excellent firing quality. The large vase weighs 1 kg 163 g and measures 21 cm high by 17 cm deep, with a base diameter of 10.5 cm. It bears the incised inscription E. VAL under its base, an atelier abbreviation for Émaillage Vallauris. The matching small vase weighs 226 g and measures 8 cm high by 7 cm wide and 7 cm deep. It is stamped with the official raised relief mark Marius Giuge Vallauris under its base. This inseparable duo is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips, ideal for vintage design collectors.
