Marina, Signed Gómez Gil, Spanish School, 20th Century

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 47 x 39 cm (unframed), 62 x 53 cm (framed). The work presents a powerful marine scene dominated by the force of waves breaking against the coast under a stormy sky. The artist uses dynamic, fluid brushstrokes, suggesting the continuous movement of water and the changing atmosphere of the sea. The green, blue, and silver tones intertwine in a chromatic play of contrasts that reflects the tension between natural calm and fury. The composition, with a low horizon and extensive spatial depth, captures the majesty of the maritime landscape with a romantic sensibility reminiscent of the Spanish pictorial tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Gómez Gil demonstrates his mastery in capturing light and impasto technique, attributes that give the painting a vibrant and lifelike effect, evoking the poetic power of the sea as a symbol of infinity and melancholy.
