All auctions / Arts & Graphics / Marina Abramović - Cutting Through the Ignorance - Biennale di Venezia - 2000s
RESERVE PRICE: €99 Marina Abramović’s artist poster, created in 2003 within Utopia Station, a project presented at the 50th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Utopia Station, curated by Molly Nesbit, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Rirkrit Tiravanija, was conceived as an international and collective artistic project, in which installations, encounters, performances and graphic works contributed to the construction of a true “station” dedicated to the idea of utopia. A fundamental component of the project consisted of a series of 139 artist posters, produced with the contribution of numerous protagonists of international contemporary art. This exemplar belongs to that series and is the poster of Marina Abramović, Cutting Through the Ignorance. The sheet is printed on thin-weight paper and was intended for display within the exhibition as an integral part of the visual component of Utopia Station. It is therefore an artist poster produced for the Biennale project, and not a subsequent decorative reproduction of the image. The work depicts Marina Abramović immersed in vegetation while holding a large knife. The image features the phrase in yellow lettering: CUTTING THROUGH THE IGNORANCE Characteristics - Artist: Marina Abramović - Title: Cutting Through the Ignorance - Year: 2003 - Project: Utopia Station / Stazione Utopia - Event: 50th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia - Project curators: Molly Nesbit, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Rirkrit Tiravanija - Series: 139 artist posters - Type: artist poster intended for exhibition display - Support: thin-weight paper - Printer: NavaMilano S.p.A. - Technique: color offset printing - Dimensions: 84 × 60 cm - Country: Italy Conditions Condition A – excellent.
