Marcel Jaspar - Album d'Historiettes Choisies. Imagerie Enfantine - 1919

A scarce children's "imagerie" album (akin to that produced by Pellerin, Épinal). Attractive illustrated front cover by Marcel Jaspar. The spine has been reinforced, and there is a blue card to the rear cover. This seems to be a replacement. Some splitting to the base of the spine. Slight darkening / marking to the front cover. Internally clean and tidy throughout, with 23 large sheets. These are number 324-347 inclusive. The pages are a touch darkened, and one has loss to the outside edge (not affecting images or text). We cannot find any other copies of this for sale. The cover and four of the sheets are signed in the plate by Marcel Jaspar. Three are signed in the plate by Amédée Lynen (dating is from his sheets), two by George P. de Laet. The rest are unsigned, but are in the style of Jaspar's so probably his work. Although a variety of subjects, there is a very nice sheet on the Battle of Waterloo (which occurred in Belgium, quite close to Turnhout). There are also several sheets on military topics, clearly showing the recent conflict reflected in it. 40 x 31 cm. Conforms to WorldCat / OCLC: 1100242799. BnF holding ref: ark:/12148/cb457128159.

Estimate:$168.06
