Important original lithograph by Marc Chagall, created in 1963 and catalogued in the artist's lithographs' catalog raisonné as Mourlot 403. A specimen belonging to the prestigious edition of only 150 copies, hand-signed in pencil by Marc Chagall at the bottom right and numbered 31/150 at the bottom left. The composition, intense and immediately recognizable, brings together some of the most characteristic elements of Chagall's figurative universe: the central large figure, the female presence, the artist and the model, immersed in a rich, energetic, and almost painterly graphic fabric. The lithograph was produced in the famous Fernand Mourlot workshop, the Paris printer who collaborated directly with Chagall for decades, and is referred to in André Sauret's publication, Monte-Carlo, within Chagall Lithographe, Volume II. On the back of the frame there is still an old gallery/collection label, which correctly identifies the work as: Marc Chagall – Painter and Model – Original-Lithography – Mourlot 403 – 1963. The work is kept under glass in its previous frame. It shows the natural and uniform tone of the paper compatible with its age, as visible in the photographs. No tears or losses are evident on the visible part of the sheet. The work has not been removed from the frame to avoid unnecessary handling. The photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the autograph signature, numbering 31/150, surface of the work, frame, and historical documentation on the back. An authentic, signed and numbered specimen of one of the most evocative lithographs from Chagall's mature period.
