Maletti Presence - Philippe Starck - Barber chair (2) - Techno - Aluminium

Pair of swiveling armchairs "Techno" - Philippe Starck for L'Oréal / Maletti, 1989 Rare and iconic pair of swiveling armchairs, model "Techno", designed by the renowned French designer Philippe Starck in 1989 for Présence Paris (L'Oréal division) and produced by the prestigious Italian company Maletti. This model represents a perfect example of postmodern design applied to high-end professional furnishings, combining sculptural, asymmetric aesthetics with extraordinary functionality. The pair consists of two mirror-like seats and is enriched by the presence of the original fuse industrial marks (grid date stamp) impressed directly under the aluminum spoke structure, guaranteeing the period and authenticity of the lot. • Structure: Solid star base cast in polished aluminum and polished steel, equipped with a distinctive and elegant semi-circular integrated footrest. (height-adjustable functional) • Shell: The enveloping backrest is made of rigid black glossy plastic. The fluid design extends on one side, creating a wide and comfortable armrest that also functions as a small side table. • Collectible element: Inside the armrest there is the iconic small removable original ashtray. • Seat: Both seats have been finely reupholstered in eco-leather in an elegant powder/ Tiffany blue, creating a fresh and contemporary contrast with the black and chrome structure. The underside of the seat features dedicated closure panels fixed to the supporting metal plate. Condition: The lot presents overall in good vintage condition, with some state differences between the two seats: • First chair: In excellent aesthetic condition, with minimal and normal signs of wear on metal and plastic parts. The blue upholstery is in excellent, stable, and clean condition with normal signs of wear. • Second chair: Shows some signs of wear and small defects more evident on the frame and/or shell, which have been deliberately photographed in detail and reported within the photo gallery for maximum transparency to the buyer. The rotation mechanism is smooth and perfectly functional on both chairs. Please examine all images carefully for an accurate assessment of the lot’s visual condition. A piece of international design history, perfect for furnishing lofts, professional studios, elite salons, or to enrich a modern-design collection. Available for pickup or shipping at the buyer’s expense and arranged by courier."}
