Makayhos - [Canvas] Masked Icon – Luxury Anonymity

The work depicts an iconic toy-like face with a pale yellow skin tone wearing a dark leather balaclava adorned with gold monogram patterns, placed at the center of the composition. The figure emerges with a vibrant physical and three-dimensional presence from the stone material, creating a strong plastic contrast between the smoothness of the face, the texture of the stitched leather, and the finely layered surface of the white marble. The precious gold veins running through the marble surface and the carved frame represent an explicit nod to the ancient art of Kintsugi, highlighting the value of cracks to symbolize the contrast between opulence and anonymity, the celebration of cultural fragilities, and the reassembling of pop culture symbols through the value of time. It should be noted that the work is not a true bas-relief in marble nor a physically three-dimensional sculpture, but rather the optical effect of a 2D canvas designed to offer an optical illusion of exceptional depth and material relief. A conceptual artwork for a collection, where contemporary design language and street culture meet the rigor of classical sculpture and the philosophy of imperfection. ⠀ Disclaimer: This artwork is an artist’s interpretation and is not an official or licensed product.
