Magnifique paire de candélabres anciens à 5 lumières...

Magnificent pair of candelabra Candle holder, candlestick, antique five-light chandelier – Genuine marble and gilded metal mounts – Napoleon III style – Rocaille decor Superb and imposing pair of state candelabra with five lights each, combining the refinement of genuine black marble with the richness of finely chiseled gilded mounts. Of remarkable elegance, this pair of Napoleon III style candlesticks, with Louis XV and Rocaille influences, stands out for the profusion of its ornaments, the finesse of its motifs, and the quality of its decorative composition. With a height of 50 cm and a total weight of nearly 6 kilograms, these two pieces present a beautiful sculptural presence and constitute a particularly decorative ensemble. An elegant architecture in genuine marble Each candlestick rests on a cylindrical column in genuine black marble, whose sobriety harmonizes with the brilliance of the gilded elements. These columns are supported by imposing square marble bases, highlighted with gold-framed vegetal motifs. The bases rest on four ornamental feet, intricately worked, representing fantastical creatures evoking griffins or chimeras. These sculpted figures, combined with scrolls and foliage, reflect inspiration drawn from the classical and Rocaille decorative repertoire. A remarkable richness of ornamentation The upper part of each candlestick features an elegant five-light composition. Four lateral arms, with graceful curves and generous volutes, encircle a central elevated stem housing a fifth light. The arms are lavishly decorated with stylized foliage, floral motifs, and openwork elements. The sconce cups present delicate geometric and botanical decors, while the wicks are adorned with richly worked borders. The whole is crowned by an openwork fleur-de-lis accentuating the verticality and elegance of the composition. The gilding in warm tones contrasts with the black marble, giving these candlesticks a particularly refined aesthetic. A set inspired by the decorative arts of the 19th century With their architectural silhouette, Rocaille ornaments, and the combination of black marble with gilded mounts, these candlesticks belong to the decorative tradition of the Napoleon III style. Their composition recalls the taste of bourgeois and aristocratic interiors for showpieces, contrasting materials, and rich ornamentation. Their precise dating and the exact nature of the gold may still require confirmation. Condition Good overall presentation, with patina and signs of use compatible with an antique object. Visible traces of time, notably light scratches, small marks, localized wear on the gilding, and oxidation traces on some metal parts. A small defect on the side seen in the last photo. A slight greenish oxidation is visible on a upper decorative element. The fixings and joints are visible under the bases. These details are preserved and presented with transparency. The numerous detailed photographs permit appreciation of the richness of the decors, the materials, and the general condition of the ensemble.
