Krobo necklaces are jewelry made from glass beads traditionally produced by the Krobo people of Ghana, West Africa. The Krobo are particularly renowned for their craftsmanship in glass bead making. Manufacture: Traditionally, recycled glass, notably from bottles, is crushed very finely. The glass powder is then placed in clay molds, sometimes in multiple colors and layers to create patterns, then heated in a kiln. This is what gives the Krobo beads their distinctive look: deep colors, patterns, transparency or a slightly matte appearance, depending on the technique used. Their cultural significance The beads are not only decorative. Among the Krobo, they are traditionally associated with different moments in life, notably birth, coming-of-age rites, marriage, and certain ceremonies. Length of each necklace: 41 cm and 43 cm Weight of each necklace: 171 g / 144 g / 164 g
