A nice specimen of magnetite featuring sharply defined octahedral crystals with deep metallic-black lustre, beautifully contrasting against the natural host rock. The specimen is particularly appealing for its provenance. Rocca Stella is associated with the historical mineral heritage of the Italian Alps, where generations of mineral exploration have left a fascinating geological legacy. Today, the original collecting locality is reportedly no longer safely accessible, making historical specimens especially interesting as records of a site that can no longer be readily explored.
