Madhubani (Mithila) painting – Two female figures under a flowering tree – signed K.K. Jha – Bihar, India Beautiful traditional Madhubani painting (also known as Mithila art) in black and white, made on handmade paper. The work depicts two stylized female figures (probably Radha and a companion or two women of the tradition) under a richly flowering tree. Both wear elaborate outfits with geometric motifs and have the large eyes characteristic of the Madhubani style. The border is double, decorated with triangle and star motifs, typical of the Mithila school. Hand-signed on the back: “K.K. JHA” and “BIHAR” (in English and in Devanagari script)
