M. Krier-Lambrette (1879-1951) - Bouquet de fleurs champêtres

M. Krier-Lambrette (1879-1951) - Bouquet de fleurs champêtres

Marcelle KRIER-LAMBRETTE (1879–1951) – Grand bouquet of rural flowers – Original signed oil on canvas – First half of the 20th century Beautiful and bright original signed oil on canvas by M. Krier-Lambrette, Marcelle Krier-Lambrette (1879–1951), French painter known notably for her still lifes and floral compositions. This work depicts a generous rural bouquet composed of vermilion red poppies, white daisies, cornflowers, and various flowers in purple, violet and pink hues. The flowers are arranged in a polychrome ceramic jug, adorned with a figurative folk-inspired decoration. It rests on a red-and-white checkered tablecloth, beside an open book. The composition stands out for the harmony of its colors, the generosity of the bouquet, and the contrast between the bright tones of the flowers and the bluish-grey background. The artist uses a free and expressive painting technique, with visible impasto, particularly in the treatment of the petals. The play of light and chromatic variations gives the whole a pleasant depth. This still life testifies to a particular sensitivity to flowers and everyday objects, in the tradition of French figurative painting from the first half of the 20th century. Marcelle Krier-Lambrette (1879–1951) is a French painter born in Limoges. A student of the painter Luc-Olivier Merson, she devoted herself especially to the representation of flowers, still lifes, and figurative scenes. She participated in various French artistic events, notably in painting salons. Her works regularly appear on the art market. As references, several paintings by the artist were presented at an auction organized by Millon on January 21, 2025, notably: * Still life with a jug of white roses, sold for €230. * Still life with a tricot bobble in the haberdashery, sold for €220. * Doves and vases in a park, sold for €250. These references illustrate the artist’s presence on the auction market and the interest in her compositions. Dimensions of the canvas: * Height: 61 cm. * Width: 50 cm. Dimensions with frame: * Height: 70 cm. * Width: 60 cm. * Total thickness: 5 cm. Weight: About 1.750 kg. Framing: Old wooden molded frame, with patinated and gilded finish. The painting is presented in generally good apparent condition, considering its age. The canvas retains its colors and pictorial textures. It shows the normal signs of time and some surface irregularities. The old wooden stretcher is preserved, with its horizontal crossbar for reinforcement. The frame shows more pronounced wear: scuffs, small chippings, flakes and finish losses, particularly visible on the moldings and at the corners. These defects are documented in the photographs. The whole is offered in its current state, without known recent restoration. The detailed photographs, especially those of the signature, the reverse, and the frame, are an integral part of the description and allow assessing the artwork’s condition. This painting combines several qualities appreciated by enthusiasts of old paintings: * A generous and particularly colorful floral composition. * An oil technique with beautiful textural effects. * An identifiable signature. * A substantial decorative format of 70 × 60 cm with its old frame. * A timeless subject, characteristic of the tradition of floral still lifes. A charming and fresh work, likely to interest both collectors of French figurative painting and lovers of antique decoration. The photos, which are part of the description, please refer to them to judge the condition.
