Thank you for your understanding. !!! - TITLE OF THE WORK: STAR WARS vs STOP WARS (wall fragment) HISTORY OF THE WORK: Through this relief work, the artist L.SAINT YORK revisits the Star Wars universe with a composition of LEGO bricks worn by time, evoking a fractured wall as a symbol of a world marked by conflicts and oppositions. The iconic logo is subverted by the red letters “OP,” painted above the word “STAR,” which visually interrupt the title and give it a new scope: a call to end wars and build a future of peace. Red, the color of blood and violence, contrasts with the message of hope carried by this intervention. The LEGO Stormtrooper minifigure, emblematic soldier of the Galactic Empire, embodies the military world, obedience, and the machinery of war. Its presence recalls that behind every conflict lie armed forces, but also the human consequences of their clashes. Between destroyed bricks, military accessories, and a diverted cultural symbol, the work opposes destruction to the possibility of a more peaceful world. The piece pays homage to Star Wars while transcending fiction to convey a universal message: “it is time to end wars and make peace our priority.” - ARTISTIC REALIZATION: by Lyssandre Saint York - YEAR: 2026 - LIMITED EDITION: 1/1 UNIT - CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY: Yes + numbered on the back and on the passe-partout 1/1 + security label disc with Capsule signature in the name of the artist L.Saint York in a mirrored acrylic glass inside the frame on the wall. My artistic work sits at the crossroads of two worlds that fascinate me: the raw energy of street art and the visual efficacy of pop art. I grew up amid the emergence of the “seventies” style and Space Age design, a rupturing era where pre-war sobriety gave way to organic shapes, plastic, and vibrant colors. Raised by this bold aesthetic, I naturally began in design and fashion, conceiving and selling concepts around the world for more than 30 years to this day. This mastery of structure and visual impact later expands into my artistic creations. My journey as an artist began with the toy prism, composing my first works in framed LEGO bricks. This artistic approach allowed me to revisit the great pop culture icons. From Star Wars heroes to iconic figures like Mario Bros, Mickey, or the emblematic Scrooge McDuck, by mixing brand luxury symbols with these LEGO characters, icons of an entire generation! I have always enjoyed reclaiming these symbols to give them a new dimension. This work naturally extended to creating sculptures with Banksy’s rebellious environment and graffiti, or iconic Art Toy characters. By subverting these sculptures and these emblematic figures, I play with contrasts to question our desires and our consumer society. This conceptual rigour dialogues with the absolute freedom of urban culture. Marker, spray, stencil, paint, drips and textured overlays, but also with techniques other than those I marry to the chromatic power of pop art. My works have thus become a visual collision where the anticonformist design of the 70s and luxury meet the subversive spontaneity of the street, in subversion, juxtaposing and reinventing these collective and cult icons into a graphic and instinctive aesthetic, offering a nostalgic, double-edged, striking, and decidedly contemporary reading of our era with societal topics and minimalist conceptual illustration. From Paris to New York via Taiwan or even Australia, my works travel the world thanks to you, and I thank you for it.
