Luminous Lemurian Quartz Cluster with a Superbly Formed...

Cluster of Lemurian Quartz Crystal — An specimen of notable visual impact and weight is presented: a large cluster of milky Quartz, belonging to the prestigious commercial variety 'Lemurian,' originating from the renowned Corinthos mining district in Corinto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The specimen stands out for the presence of a dominant primary crystal, characterized by exceptional transparency and purity, rising majestically from a base of intergrown crystals. The primary crystal immediately draws attention for its slender shape and perfectly defined termination faces. Its lateral surface is striated with the typical horizontal lines, known in collecting as 'Akashic lines' or 'bar-code lines,' which give this quartz variety its identity. The clarity is such that the interior of the crystal can be observed, almost like a block of pure ice, revealing faint ghosts and internal veils that attest to its complex growth history. Around this centerpiece, a multitude of smaller crystals radiates in multiple directions, creating a dynamic and complex three-dimensional composition. The base is a compact crystal matrix that anchors the entire structure. This specimen is the product of geological processes that occurred over millions of years inside granitic pegmatites, environments rich in silica dissolved in hydrothermal fluids. The pressure and temperature conditions, combined with slow cooling, allowed the growth of quartz crystals of such size and quality. The Lemurian variety is specifically associated with Minas Gerais deposits and stands out for these unique striations, the result of alternating growth phases of the crystal. From a collecting standpoint, this piece represents excellence. Its origin from Corinto, a classic locality for high-end quartz, enhances its value. The generous dimensions, nearly two kilograms in weight, and the quality of the primary crystal (clarity, luster, and termination) place it in the upper tier of collectible specimens. The overall integrity of the cluster and its sculptural aesthetics make it a desirable piece for any high-level mineral collection. Beyond its scientific and collecting value, this Lemurian Quartz cluster is a decor piece of rare elegance. Its sculptural presence can elevate any space, from a professional studio to a library, to a modern living room. The light passing through its crystal faces creates unique refractions and brilliance, transforming it into a focal point of light and natural form. It is a perfect example of how nature can create works of art, a fragment of Earth's geology to display and admire, ideal for an exclusive contemporary Wunderkammer.
