Luigi Brambati ( Castiglione d'Adda 1925 - Milan 1983) Man and woman Oil on masonite Signed bottom right Dimensions with frame: 70x80 cm Painting: 50x60 cm Luigi Brambati was an Italian painter and engraver. He trained in Milan where, in 1945, he attended the Castello Art School. On this occasion he befriended many other artists of Lombard vedutismo of the 20th century, such as Fedeli, Consadori, Castellani, Moro, Labò, Barbieri and Novello. He took part in Milanese exhibitions at the Permanente and at Brera. A landscape painter, he is drawn to lagoon views and works in Burano and on the other islands. He is later drawn to Brittany, where he moves and works for a long time. In Italy he collaborates regularly with the Ponterosso Gallery in Milan. Rossana Bossaglia writes, in the catalog foreword to the solo exhibition at Galleria Ponte Rosso in 1993: "Brambati has behind him a naturalism with clear-cut traits, thus vital and light, but at the same time the tendency, inherited from the twentieth century, toward a rigorous and summary synthesis of images, especially in the figures. This double characterization, which often translates into a landscape animation, with figures sketched rapidly up to the threshold of the silhouette, in the postwar period encounters the great lesson of neorealism; and from it derives a simplification and strengthening of signature, which keeps Brambati from the temptation – easy for a such a gifted artist, with a keen gaze and a quick hand – toward illustrative pleasures." insured shipping Authentic work and in good condition The frame shown in the photos is provided at no additional cost so that the work can be displayed as soon as it arrives. It is included as a courtesy and is not considered an integral part of the artwork. Therefore any potential damage to the frame that does not affect the artwork itself will not constitute valid grounds to open a claim or request order cancellation.
