Rare original burin engraving by Lucas van Leyden, from 1521, plate 13 of the series "The Small Passion". Dimensions: 11.7 x 7.5 cm A sixteenth-century impression published by Marteen Petri ("MPetri excudit"), active between 1540 and 1566; on laid paper with watermark, in fair condition, with the upper left corner showing a very small area of loss historically restored and a moisture stain (see photo). The work depicts the famous apocryphal episode in which Jesus Christ, after his death, descends into Hell to liberate the patriarchs and the righteous of the Old Testament (recognizable in the foreground and to the left, among them Adam and Eve).
