- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Hand-signed. - That girl dressed in blue tulle, immortalized in oil with the pastel precision of the families who have no budget problems but do have imagination problems, wears that grave look of someone who already senses the trouble of inheritances. Between her silk little hands she grips a pink plush rabbit of elephantine dimensions, a loud stuffed monster with which the seventies bourgeoisie intended to sweeten their children's childhood to cover up the naftalin scent. It is the era of the Seat 124 at the door and the crocheted curtain in the living room, but here there is a pretension of lineage, an aristocratic image of a three-hundred-square-meter apartment in the Salamanca district. The creature poses seriously, like a Velázquez princess crushed by cotton candy, turned into the trophy of parents who preferred commissioning a canvas from the fashionable artist rather than spending an afternoon at the park. Poor rich girl, shielded from the world by a fuchsia fur and a dense oil mass that protects her from real life. No one told her then that that stupid, smiling plush rabbit would be the only shield she would have before slipping into the abysses of adulthood: elegant divorces, social club neuroses, and trips to the psychoanalyst to understand why happiness smelled of turpentine. There is in the varnished surface of this painting an involuntary sarcasm, the intimate tragedy of Spanish opulence who believed that by buying the girl a giant, disproportionate animal she also bought immunity to heartbreak. The little one remains there, trapped in 1973, squeezing her pink monster as one clings to a lifebuoy in the middle of a wedding banquet. - Image dimensions without frame: 65 x 80 cm / 81 x 96 cm with exclusive custom frame.
