Lobi – Stylized wooden figure – Kampti, Burkina Faso – 23 cm A distinctive wooden sculpture, originating from the Lobi culture in the Kampti region of southern Burkina Faso. The figure depicts a standing human form, with an elongated neck, an expressive face with almond-shaped eyes, and highly stylized body proportions. The arms are firmly along the body and the figure rests on two characteristic block-shaped feet. The geometric design gives the piece a powerful, almost modernist, appearance. The wood has a dark, locally glossy patina, with lighter areas of wear that accentuate the contours of the carving. Specifications Cultural attribution: Lobi Region: Kampti, southern Burkina Faso Material: Wood Height: 23 cm Weight: 230 grams Estimated period: 20th century Maker: Unknown Condition The sculpture shows clear signs of age and use, local wear, minor damage and cracks in the wood. The exact age and original function have not been established. The photographs are part of the description and show the condition from different angles. A characterful sculpture for collectors of African art and enthusiasts of traditional and abstract sculpture.
