Decorative tapestry made on a regenerated leather support, with high-definition artistic print inspired by the spirituality of ancient Egypt, funerary cult, and the symbolism connected to protecting the dead and the journey into the afterlife. The composition presents an intense portrait of Anubis, one of the most famous and instantly recognizable deities of the Egyptian pantheon, depicted with a human body and a canine head, in accordance with the iconography traditionally associated with the god. The figure dominates the scene with great visual impact, conveying solemnity, authority, and a profound sense of mystery. Anubis was closely linked to mummification, funerary rituals, the protection of necropolises, and the safeguarding of the deceased on the journey to the afterlife. In Egyptian religion he played a fundamental role in the preparation and safeguarding of the body, as well as being associated with the delicate phase of the judgment of the soul. In this artistic interpretation, Anubis appears in a proud and monumental pose, with a gaze directed to the side and a powerful stature that emphasizes his protective character. The dark, elongated face, large ears, and vigilant stance immediately evoke the deity’s iconography, giving the composition a strong theatrical presence. The figure wears an elaborate ceremonial headdress, flanked by bands decorated with hieroglyphic motifs, and a broad, richly worked collar. At the center of the chest is a complex ornament with a winged scarab and an ankh, symbols strongly tied to life, regeneration, and the continuity of existence. Even the belt and arm ornaments feature meticulous graphic workmanship, with motifs inspired by Egyptian art and its sacred symbolism. The lower-part drapery completes the figure, balancing physical grandeur with ceremonial refinement. Anubis also grips a long ritual staff, richly decorated and topped with a stylized animal head, an element that further heightens the sacred and authoritative character of the representation. The staff contributes to giving verticality to the scene and reinforces the god’s image as guardian and guide. The background expands the narrative through numerous references to ancient Egypt. On the left appear walls covered with hieroglyphs and depictions of Anubis, while on the right monumental architectures, temple elements, and a smoking brazier emerge. A small statue of Anubis is also visible, another reminder of the funerary and ritual dimension associated with the deity. The overall scene creates a solemn and evocative atmosphere, suspended between temple, necropolis, and ceremonial space. The work stands out for its refined engraving-style on paper, built through a dense interlacing of lines, hatching, and chiaroscuro. The predominant sepia tone recalls ancient illustrated tablets, antique engravings, and archaeological publications of the era, giving the image a classical, austere, and timeless character. The print quality precisely highlights the deity’s face, the musculature, the complexity of the collar, the ritual decorations, and the numerous background elements. The result is a visually striking piece that immediately draws the eye while offering a wealth of details to observe more closely. In the lower-right part there is also a red wax seal, a distinctive detail that creates a refined color contrast with the sepia tones of the composition and ideally evokes concepts of authenticity, guardianship, and tradition.
