Limited edition (1/15) Artistic Tapestry 'Hannya – The...

A Artistic Tapestry “Hannya – The Demon of Jealousy and Passion” – Print on Regenerated Synthetic Leather Decorative tapestry made on a regenerated synthetic leather support, with a high-definition artistic image inspired by Japanese art, Noh theater, and the famous iconography of the Hannya mask, one of the most recognizable and fascinating figures of Japanese cultural tradition. The composition depicts a supernatural-looking female figure, characterized by the Hannya mask: a demonic face with long horns, intense eyes, and a fierce expression. The subject emerges with great dramatic force, while a sumptuous traditional hairstyle, adorned with flowers and hanging ornaments, creates a striking contrast between feminine elegance and demonic unease. The Hannya belongs to the tradition of Japanese Noh theater and generally represents a woman transformed by jealousy, suffering, and uncontrollable passions. Her expression conveys not only anger and ferocity but also a deeply tragic component: behind the monstrous appearance remains the memory of the woman and the pain that caused her transformation. The character wears a rich kimono decorated with elaborate floral motifs, rendered through an extremely detailed graphic weave. The folds of the fabric and the complexity of the ornaments occupy much of the lower part of the artwork, contributing to give depth and solemnity to the figure. Behind the protagonist opens a suggestive landscape inspired by traditional Japan: cherry blossoms, a lantern, a pagoda, a small bridge, and a full moon create a nighttime atmosphere suspended between beauty and mystery. The architectural and natural elements frame the subject without taking away its centrality, while enriching the composition with numerous details to observe. The contrast between the delicacy of the blooming cherry trees and the Hannya’s threatening expression represents one of the most evocative aspects of the work. Beauty and unease, grace and ferocity coexist within the same scene, reflecting the symbolic complexity of the character and making the image particularly intense and evocative. The monochromatic rendering in black and beige gives the tapestry an elegant, antique, and timeless character. The warm tone of the background visually recalls the look of traditional paper, while the dark stroke highlights the details of the mask, the hairstyle, the kimono, and the surrounding landscape. The support in synthetic leather gives the tapestry a distinctive tactile presence, capable of further enhancing the depicted subject. The slightly textured surface interacts with the print and accentuates its graphic complexity, offering a refined decorative effect and a richer perception than a simple paper reproduction. In the upper right corner there is a cartouche with the inscription “Hannya,” accompanied by Japanese characters, an element that explicitly identifies the subject of the work. In the lower right corner there is also a physical red seal, a distinctive detail that creates an elegant color contrast point and reinforces the decorative and collectible character of the tapestry. Designed for living rooms, studies, libraries, themed environments, or collections dedicated to Japanese art, folklore, and culture, this tapestry combines beauty, drama, symbolism, and mystery in a striking decorative composition. Note: The product will be shipped unframed. The tapestry is made on a printed synthetic leather support and features outer edges to facilitate application, fastening, or eventual mounting on a support, frame, or canvas chosen by the buyer.
