Leitz Canada Summilux 35mm f/1.4 (Pre-ASPH) - Leica M Mount Camera lens

A Leica Leitz Canada Summilux 35 mm f/1.4 is offered, one of the system's most highly regarded classic lenses for the Leica M system. The lot includes the 12504 hood with its Type 7 filter, and a non-original rear cap. Manufactured by Leitz Canada, this lens belongs to the classic generation prior to the ASPH version and is especially valued for its unique optical character. At wide open, it delivers a very smooth tonal transition, natural bokeh, and an excellent sense of depth. Many photographers associate this rendering with the well-known "Leica Glow," a combination of high resolution on the focus plane with a soft transition toward out-of-focus areas, giving images an especially organic and three-dimensional look. Stopping down slightly yields a notable increase in contrast and sharpness while maintaining a very balanced reproduction. Condition - Mechanical operation is correct. - The focus is smooth, even, and precise. - The diaphragm is clean and functions accurately. - The glass elements are in good condition. - It may show small specks of dust typical of its age and use. Observation - The rear lens shows a small superficial mark, which has been attempted to be shown as clearly as possible in the photos. Carefully review the photos, which are part of the lot description. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Leica MP camera shown in some photographs is NOT part of this lot. It is shown solely for illustration purposes to demonstrate the appearance of the lens mounted on a compatible camera. A magnificent opportunity to acquire a prestigious Leica classic, ideal for both photography and a collection of historical Leica M system lenses. The equipment will be carefully packed to ensure safe transport. For bidders in continental Europe only. The items I offer are personal collectible items. Due to their ages, their physical and functional condition is not guaranteed 100%. There may be details not described above; the photos are part of the description. If the items are marked as “REGULAR” and/or “UNTESTED,” each person may interpret this differently. To avoid misunderstandings about the item's condition or expectations derived from different valuation criteria, the description and the photographs form an integral part of the listing. As it is a private sale, no claims based on subjective expectations will be accepted. Nevertheless, the operation of components such as the shutter, the rangefinder, the light meter, etc., is checked, and the lenses are visually inspected.
