Circa 1890. Cristallerie Legras / Montjoye in St Denis. France Magnificent old rare large vase in opacified blown glass with the famous "emerald green" colored through and through, with hot enamel decoration and enhanced with gilding, depicting a pretty aquatic landscape composed of charming water lilies in bloom and buds, with matching floating foliage, treated in a naturalistic style characteristic of Art Nouveau. The wavy lines highlighted in gold evoke the surface of the water, while the stylized botanical motifs decorating the lower and upper parts of the vase recall decorative explorations inspired by nature—floral naturalism typical of French Art Nouveau during the Belle Époque of the early 1900s. The vase rests on a lovely square plinth, richly moulded in a metal or argenté (silvered) style that suits it perfectly. Remarkable high-quality enameling work, with thick aquatic flower glaze, as well as an excellent execution by the glassmaker who gave the vase a magnificent, geometrically captivating form. A splendid artisanal work from the late 19th century by this famous master glassmaker. The water lilies greatly inspired the glass masters of the École de Nancy. This flower represents nature, full of curves and arabesques, the quintessential symbol of the Art Nouveau era. Beautiful height of about 33 cm with a generous volume. Proof marked and signed "Déposé" under the base, which is one of the well-known signatures of LEGRAS. (See last photo) Rare industrial pull sample, little produced, the emerald green series is perfectly referenced and illustrated in the famous catalogue raisonné "Legras Maître Verrier". In very good condition for its advanced age. ( vase over 130 years old! ) with fresh enamel and pretty gilding. Note only a few small signs of use inside, due to the passage of time, which do not detract from the charm of this magnificent rare Art Nouveau vase from the early 20th century, a unique and rare piece that will beautify your interior and arouse the admiration of your guests!
