This attractive naturalist’s box, conceived and inspired by the late 19th and early 20th centuries, evokes the era of scientific explorations, when botanists, entomologists, geologists and collectors roamed fields, mountains and forests documenting the natural world with an almost artisanal rigor. Made of light wood and carefully compartmentalized, it features on the inside of the lid a delicate pyrograved decoration with holly branches, spiny leaves and berries—a vegetal motif that reinforces its association with the study of nature. The interior preserves various tools typical of fieldwork: a glass container for storing samples, a metal compass for orientation during expeditions, a rubber pear used to inflate air or manipulate small particles without damaging specimens, as well as small compartments intended for the orderly transport of tools, specimens, labels and observation materials. There is also a cloth bag for the temporary preservation of delicate findings, such as seeds, minerals or insects. This type of box constituted a true portable laboratory, designed to accompany the researcher during scientific outings. Its careful internal organization allowed for the classification and safe transport of samples, while its compact and sturdy format facilitated traveling. Beyond its functionality, it reflects the spirit of curiosity and discovery characteristic of early 20th-century natural history, when direct observation and systematic collecting were fundamental tools for advancing scientific knowledge. Today it is presented as a piece of great decorative and collecting interest, capable of conveying the charm of the old cabinets of curiosities and of the naturalist expeditions that marked one of the most fascinating eras in scientific research. Certified shipping and good packing.
