Subject and Theme: "BUBBLE GUM LEGENDS" is an ironic and luminous diptych that places side by side two women who became legends for opposite reasons: Marilyn Monroe, symbol of Hollywood glamour, and Frida Kahlo, the painter who turned her own face into a work of art. Both are caught in a casual, almost teenage gesture: inflating a bubble gum bubble. Marilyn appears with half-closed eyes, sensual and relaxed, against an explosion of red, fuchsia, blue and turquoise splashes. Her bubble lights up with a bright pink neon that tints her face and makes her earrings glow. Frida, with the flower crown and unmistakable eyebrows, emerges from a worn, grainy wall covered with faded writings. Her gaze remains proud and direct, while the bubble lights up with an electric blue neon that breaks the portrait’s severity. Technique and Creation: Both works combine archival print on rigid support with hand-applied LED neon, tracing the outline of the bubble. Two different languages dialogue with each other: on one side, the most vibrant pop art, made of saturated colors and splashes in the manner of action painting; on the other, an urban-poster texture, with cool tones, scratches, and drips. Hanging together, the two lights, pink and blue, mingle on the wall and create a warm, nocturnal atmosphere that transforms the room. Inspiration and Curiosity: The neon colors are not random. The pink recalls Marilyn’s famous dress from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," one of cinema’s most iconic looks. The blue pays homage to the Casa Azul in Coyoacán, Frida’s family home where she was born and lived, now a museum dedicated to her. A diva built by the star system and an artist who told her story through her self-portraits: two opposite ways of becoming an icon, brought down to earth here by the same irreverent gesture. A diptych designed for those who love pop culture and art that can smile at its own myths. Instagram: @led.mansion The lot includes 2 works.
