Elegant bronze sculpture representing Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658), an English historical figure, shown full-length, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a 17th-century suit. The sculpture is executed in the style of the French School of the 19th century and is after a work by Paul Delaroche (1797-1856). Bronze with a brown-golden patina, featuring a very beautiful modelling of the clothing, the face, the hat and the accessories. The figure rests on a blackened wooden base. It is probably an antique decorative element or ornament of a pendulum clock. Beautiful decorative presence and a sought-after historical subject. Overall condition: good, with old patina and some signs of age and oxidation visible on the bronze. Total height with base: about 36 cm.
