Le Yack - The Maids - Hand signed

She kept the cigarette at her lips to free her hands. Seated on red velvet, she tightens the strap of another woman's shoe heel, standing on the ottoman, of which only the legs and the black skirt will be seen. Who serves whom? The position says one thing, the lowered gaze and the red mouth say another. The game is ancient, Genet's game: the mistress and the servant who swap their roles as soon as the door is closed. Red velvet matted into a thick paste, damask wallpaper washed in olive-green glaze, window light slicing through the scene like a theater stage. The golden rivets of the shoes are placed one by one.
