Le Yack - Before the Squall - Hand-signed

A white wooden house perched at the edge of the dunes, somewhere on the American Atlantic coast. On the veranda, a woman in a summer dress has risen from her red rocking chair. With her hand shading her eyes, she scans the road leading to the sea. Behind her, the sky turns ink-blue, and the wind already lays the grasses flat. It's the old figure of the watcher, from Penelope to the wives of sailors, transposed into 1950s America. One thinks of the films where the hurricane is awaited behind closed shutters, like Key Largo. Who is due to arrive along this road? The storm, or someone she had stopped hoping for? Le Yack paints the moment just before, when the light is still gold on the dress but the whole sky already signals something else. A tableau of waiting and tension, built on the contrast between the sunlit white of the dress and the threatening blue of the storm.
