LASZLO HOENIG (AUSTRIAN/HUNGARIAN, 1905-1971) ART DECO CONCAVE FRONTED DRESSING TABLE, CIRCA 1935 Walnut, tooled leather inset top, gilt brass handles 78cm high, 148cm wide, 60cm deep Provenance: Purchased from Anderson Garland, 2008 The Anderson Garland sale included the contents of the home that Lionel Jacobsen and his wife inhabited. The first three big clients of Laszlo Hoenig when he arrived in Mayfair from Hungary were the Bank of England, Winston Churchill and Lionel Jacobsen. Jacobsen was the managing director and president of Jackson the Tailors, based in Newcastle which merged with Burtons in 1953 where he became the chairman. The present lot was a wedding gift from Hoenig to Jacobsen. Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old minor splits and chips.
