This long, eight-row necklace is truly one of a kind! The variety of its exquisite materials reminds us of the gemstones found in the cabinets of curiosities of past centuries—those legendary collections of European royal houses where nature’s most precious treasures were gathered. In eight lavishly cascading strands, natural corals in vibrant colours ranging from delicate pink to deep red are combined with carnelian, moonstone, citrines, genuine aquamarines, faceted rock crystals, and fine cultured pearls—and there appear to be a few antique stones among them as well. Each individual element contributes its own colour, its own light, and its own character to this extraordinary composition. The warm red of the coral contrasts with the crystalline clarity of the rock crystal, the gentle shimmer of the moonstone, and the delicate reflections of the pearls. The small aquamarines add an exciting shade of sea blue. The result is an interplay of transparency, luster, and shimmer. Despite its opulent appearance, the necklace seems remarkably alive; it looks as though the arrangement has evolved over the years and been assembled from the most beautiful finds on a collector’s journey. Assembled around the turn of the millennium, this necklace combines the carefree elegance of boho luxury with a love of rare natural materials. The strands are held together by a clasp made of 750 gold. According to the previous owner, the necklace was purchased from the renowned jeweler Lährm in Salzburg, which matches the Austrian maker's mark visible on the clasp. An extraordinary collector’s item that combines treasures from the sea and the earth and, with its wealth of precious elements, is reminiscent of a princely cabinet of curiosities.
