This ring was crafted in our workshop. It is made of high-karat gold and vintage gemstones, but it is a new creation and has never been worn. Its design, however, follows a ring style that was popular around the turn of the 20th century: the so-called “entourage ring.” In an entourage ring, a precious gemstone takes center stage within a setting—or, as the name suggests (from the French “i”)—a “entourage” of smaller diamonds. In this particular ring, it is a vintage 9.17-carat Ceylon sapphire. The large, sky-blue stone came to us as part of an antique pendant that, unfortunately, could no longer be restored. Our goldsmiths therefore created this ring specifically for it, using vintage diamonds from the same pendant. To craft the ring, our goldsmiths employed traditional goldsmithing techniques. All the gemstones are set in delicate milgrains, and the ring face features intricate openwork, as would have been done c. 1900. The combination of two metals in different colours also follows historical models, with high-karat yellow gold and high-karat white gold combined here. The result is a new ring that draws on the goldsmithing artistry of the Belle Époque and is ready to write its own story together with its first wearer. The independent gemological report shown here, certifying the quality of the gemstones, is included with the ring.
