Miraculous Medal Necklace – Virgin Mary – Great Graces and Blessing. This lapis-lazuli necklace bears the veiled Virgin Mary united with the miraculous medal, a badge of faith carrying the promise of great graces and heavenly aid. Paris, November 27, 1830. In the silent dimness of the chapel on Rue du Bac, Saint Catherine Labouré kneels in prayer. Suddenly, a heavenly glow lights the sanctuary: the Virgin Mary appears in a burst of light, her hands open from which beams of sparkling rays descend toward the earth. These rays are the living symbols of the graces granted to those who ask for them with confidence. The living tableau slowly pivots, revealing the holy cross united with Mary’s monogram, the Two Hearts, and the circle of twelve stars. A historic promise is then entrusted: whosoever wears this medal with devotion will receive great graces and see his prayers accompanied by constant intercession. Keeping this medal close to oneself is to unite with the most beautiful promise of Christendom: a privileged link with divine grace to illuminate every step and guide the heart in peace under the benevolent gaze of the Divine Mother. Dimensions: - necklace length: 55 cm. - weight: 51 g. - lapis-lazuli beads: cm (approximately). - Virgin Mary pendant, intricately worked in gold and silver-toned metal: 4.4 x 3.1 cm (excluding the bail). - Spring clasp stamped Gold filled 14K. Mounted on a Japanese steel thread coated with nylon. - Necklace handmade with care. History & Secrets of the Symbol: The Veiled Virgin and the Silence of Prayer In devotional art, the lowered veil and hands crossed over the chest evoke interiority and attentive listening. This representation of Mary recalls the Mother of Mercy who gathers the faithful intentions to carry them with benevolence toward the light. The Rue du Bac Apparition and the Gift of Graces During the 1830 vision in Paris, the Virgin reveals to Saint Catherine Labouré that the beams of light emanating from her hands represent the graces poured out on those who ask for them. By 1832, the spontaneous diffusion of the medal by the people of Paris consecrates its name as the “Miraculous” following the countless acts of aid observed. The Monogram, the Two Hearts, and the Twelve Stars On the back, the intertwined M with the cross illustrates Mary at the foot of Calvary. Below, the Heart of Jesus encircled with thorns and the Heart of Mary pierced by Simeon’s sword signify compassionate love. The twelve stars echo the twelve apostles and the woman crowned in the Apocalypse. The Lapis-Lazuli: The Marian Blue and Purity A deep royal blue recalling the celestial vault and the traditional garb of the Virgin, lapis-lazuli has since Antiquity been the stone of spiritual contemplation. Its noble and sober presence sublimates the fervor of the Miraculous Medal. The photos were taken under LED lighting using dedicated photographic equipment to accurately reproduce the details, reliefs, and nuances of the object. Some gemstones may be subject to traditional treatments to enhance their color or transparency. No specific gemological examination has been performed on this piece.
