Pair of capillary lamps in brass and crystal, 19th century Pair of small capillary lanterns made of brass during the 19th century, conceived for use in religious and processional contexts. These pieces feature a simple and functional structure, characteristic of liturgical metalwork of the era, combining durability and elegance through the use of gilt brass and panels of clear crystal. Each lantern is composed of a square-section prism body with glazed faces that protected the flame from air currents while allowing the even diffusion of light. The crystals are framed by brass profiles assembled with hinges and small side closures, facilitating access to the interior for lighting and maintenance of the light source. The top adopts a vaulted cap with a semispherical profile, finished with a circular ring intended for suspension or handling. Beneath this cap there is a cylindrical neck that connects to the main body of the lantern. The lower part extends into an elongated conical terminal, designed for fixing to display stands, candlesticks, processional structures, or decorative altar elements. The warm golden hue of the brass, enriched by the patina acquired over time, contrasts with the transparency of the crystals, giving the set a notable aesthetic presence. The slight irregularities and signs of use visible on the surface bear witness to its age and authenticity, reflecting decades of service in devotional environments. Beyond its practical function as auxiliary lighting for chapels, altars, or processions, this pair of lanterns constitutes an interesting example of nineteenth-century liturgical craftsmanship, representative of objects intended for religious worship and the ornamentation of sacred spaces during the 19th century.
