Labelled Stainer - - Violin - Germany - 1880

Beautiful old Saxon 4/4 violin from the last quarter of the 19th century. The violin was repaired in 1902 for a crack on the far left of the tailpiece. By whom is difficult to read (see photos). The violin also has a beautifully figured one-piece back. The lacquer has also remained in particularly good condition. The violin has a predominantly warm tone. The measurements are: Total length. 59.4 cm Mensur (scale). 32.2 cm Corpus (body). 35.9 cm Waist. 11.2 cm Width upper bout. 16.2 cm Width lower bout. 20.2 cm Violin and bows that are described as 'certified' or 'ascribed' contain images of their certificates and therefore have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin and age than instruments described as only 'labeled' (viols) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no warranty
