Antonij Nenos Fecit 1659 (with "Napoli" mentioned) Total length: 60.4 cm Back length (body): 35.7 cm (overall body length: 35.5 cm) Body width (upper bout): 21.0 cm Vibrating length (scale length): 33.0 cm Instrument weight: 380 g Condition: Good overall condition, to be inspected/adjusted by a luthier Inclusions: Original vintage hard case (used/worn), period bow (re-haft to be planned), old rosin box labeled “Présentation provisoire” Description of the instrument Beautiful French craft violin study piece made in Mirecourt at the beginning of the 20th century. Construction & Wood: Spruce top with regular grain, back one-piece/two-piece maple slightly flamed, ribs and matching scroll. Original amber/dark honey varnish with natural shading and a lovely period patina. Markings: It bears an apocryphal-era label: “Copy of Nicolaus Amatus Cremonen Hieronymi, Fil ac. Antonij Nenos Fecit 1659” as well as a stamp/mark “Napoli” visible inside. Condition of the instrument: Structurally sound. No major cracks or obvious soundpost breaks on the top or back. Pegs, bridge, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece with integrated fine tuner. Stringing and setup to be reviewed for optimal playability.
