La Mauny 1987 - Rhum Vieux Agricole Millésime - b. 1990s - 70cl

Producer: La Mauny Origin: Martinique, French West Indies Type: Rhum Agricole Vintage: 1987 Style: Vieux Agricole Main Ingredient: Fresh sugarcane juice La Mauny Vieux Agricole 1987 is a distinguished vintage Martinique agricultural rum, produced by the historic La Mauny distillery. Made from fresh sugarcane juice, rather than molasses, this style of rum reflects the traditional rhum agricole production of Martinique. The 1987 vintage makes this bottle particularly interesting to collectors, representing a specific year of production and a period in the history of one of Martinique's renowned rum houses. The rum is characterised by an elegant and mature profile, with the ageing process contributing layers of dried fruit, vanilla, warm spices, oak and subtle caramelised notes. Its character combines the distinctive freshness of sugarcane with deeper, more developed aromas acquired through maturation. On the palate, La Mauny Vieux Agricole 1987 offers a rich and rounded expression, with notes of spice, dried fruit, wood, vanilla and gentle sweetness, leading to a persistent and warming finish. Beyond its qualities as a rum, this vintage bottle has considerable appeal as a piece of Caribbean rum history. Older La Mauny agricole expressions are increasingly appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors, particularly when the bottle remains in excellent condition. A bottle of La Mauny Vieux Agricole 1987 is therefore both an elegant expression of Martinique's traditional rum-making heritage and a fascinating vintage addition to a serious spirits collection.
