Knoll - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - Lounge chair with...

I present at auction an architectural and interior design milestone of the 20th century: the complete set comprising the Barcelona chair and the coordinating matching pouf/ottoman, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and produced exclusively by KnollStudio. Proposed in the most classic, iconic and elegant finish in high-end black leather, the set embodies the perfect synthesis between artisanal craftsmanship and formal rigor. An icon of global design whose current official Knoll list price exceeds €12,000. Originally designed in 1929 to welcome the Spanish royalty during the Barcelona International Exposition in the German Pavilion, the Barcelona seat represents the manifesto of the famous motto “Less is more”: Line Architecture: The legendary hand-polished stainless steel scissor frame draws inspiration from the curule seat of ancient Rome, reinterpreted in a rationalist key with a continuous curve of exceptional formal purity. Tailored Upholstery: The seat and back cushions are made from individually cut and hand-stitched leather panels, featuring the characteristic tufted capitonnè button finish. Geometry and Ergonomics: The accompanying pouf completes the user experience, extending the visual line of the seating to offer unparalleled ergonomic comfort and a striking presence in any environment. The Barcelona set was produced in the early 2000s and is presented in excellent conservative condition, Black Leather: The leather preserves extraordinary softness, elasticity and a natural patina. Frame and Structure: The chrome-plated steel monobloc frame is bright and free of patina or defects. The leather support straps maintain perfect original tension. Authenticity Marks: Absolute Knoll conformity and originality are certified by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s signature and the KnollStudio stamp punched on the metal frame, and by the presence of the original KnollStudio label with its production serial code. Dimensions Barcelona Chair: Width: 75 cm Depth: 77 cm Height: 77 cm (Seat height: 43 cm) Pouf / Ottoman: Width: 59 cm Depth: 59 cm Height: 39 cm Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969), last director of the Bauhaus and giant of modern architecture, redefined the concept of space and furniture. Since 1953, Knoll International holds the world exclusive production rights to the Barcelona collection, granted directly by the master. Each KnollStudio-signed piece is made following the strict original standards, making the item an investment intended to preserve and increase its value over time. Knoll complements the furnishings of Vitra, Cassina, Poltrona Frau, B&B Italia, Herman Miller, and Charles & Ray Eames. I am selling only to countries of the European Union, and I am not able to deliver in ZTL zones or on islands: for greater care in transporting the Barcelona set, it will be delivered on a (EPAL) pallet; it is essential that the shipping address allows access for the truck/trailer.
