Original Brno Chair by Knoll International, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The Brno Chair is one of the best-known classics of modern furniture design. Mies van der Rohe originally designed the chair in 1930 for Villa Tugendhat in Brno. Its pared-down construction and the elegant cantilever form became a symbol of international modernism and Bauhaus-influenced design. This example features the characteristic flat, high-gloss chrome-plated steel frame, extending in a continuous line from the armrests to the cantilever base. The seat and backrest are generously padded and upholstered in black leather; the armrests are also padded accordingly. The chair is in very good used condition. The leather is well kept and the chrome surfaces are overall very nicely preserved. Light signs of age and wear may be present and are documented in the photos.
