Kirsty Wain (XX) - Sunflowers in a Glass Vase, 2023 - No Reserve

Sunflowers in a Glass Vase, 2023 Acrylic on paper 30 × 42 cm Signed and dated lower right: Wain 2023 Executed with graphic immediacy and a striking gestural freedom, Sunflowers in a Glass Vase exemplifies Kirsty Wain’s spirited exploration of botanical form and colour. Rendered in bold acrylic strokes, the composition balances structural clarity with vibrant expressive vitality. Sunflowers and delicate stems erupt from a streamlined glass vessel, articulated through sweeping contours, thick impasto accents, and an unabashedly rich chromatic range. Luminous yellows, deep verdant greens, and saturated blues interact against a neutral field, recalling the intuitive colour relationships and emotional directness characteristic of Post-Impressionist still lifes. Wain eschews traditional mimetic representation in favour of rhythmic energy and tactile surface presence, creating an uplifting statement piece that seamlessly bridges classical subject matter with contemporary sensibilities. A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) signed by Kirsty Wain will be included. Shipped with tracked and signed service. Deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape, her work offers an expressive, emotive interpretation of the surrounding environment. Drawing strong inspiration from Post-Impressionism and the bold colour theory of Fauvism, Wain uses vibrant hues, textured application, and fluid line work to capture the intrinsic energy, spirit, and light of a location. Her paintings, frequently focused on ancient olive groves, hillside pines, and sweeping terrains—seek to translate fleeting personal moments and deep emotional ties to place directly onto the canvas. Wain’s distinct visual language continues to gain international visibility, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world. ´ I love colour. I love nature. I love art. Together, they are my language. ´ K Wain 2025 Artist Profile & Education Background: British contemporary landscape painter based in Spain, combining her artistic practice with a long-standing career in art education.
