A beautiful, completely authentic antique Russian Kiddush cup (Judaica wine goblet) made of solid silver. This cup is an excellent and collectible example of fine silverwork from the late Tsarist era of the Russian Empire (the reign of Tsar Nicholas II). The cup has a slender, elegant profile on a profiled stem foot. The body is hand-decorated all around with refined engravings of floral motifs and foliate scrolls, centered around an empty cartouche (monogram shield). The upper rim features a distinctive zigzag and dotted engraving. Fully hallmarked with razor-sharp marks: Both at the upper rim of the cup and on the inside of the foot are two very clear and legible marks: Master mark "ИЕЗ": The official factory mark of the highly renowned Jewish silversmith Israel Eseevich Zakhoder (Izrail Eseevich Zakhoder), known for producing high-quality Judaica silver in Kiev. Assay mark 84 with Kokoshnik: The Russian silver mark for 84 zolotniks (corresponding to a silver purity of 875/1000). The female head with the traditional headdress (Kokoshnik) faces to the right, which dates this mark precisely to the period 1908–1917. Office mark "Δ" (Delta): Directly next to the female head is the Greek letter delta, the specific guarantor mark for the assay office in Kiev. Thanks to the combination of the specific master marks of the Zakhoder workshop and the right-facing Kokoshnik mark, this object can be dated very precisely to the early years of this transitional period (circa 1908).
