Sculpture God Bless Shemsho – Noir, Gold and polished aluminum Artist: Karl Lagasse Magnificent sculpture reproducing a fragment of the famous cryptogram “One,” bearing a message of peace and love, installed at the entrance of the city of Deauville - [Deauville Cryptogram](https://www.indeauville.fr/activite/sculpture-cryptogramme/). This work is sold with its velour embroidered cover, signed by KARL LAGASSE, artisanally crafted in Normandy. • Details: Signed and numbered artwork. • Edition: Limited series, numbered copies from 01 to 33. • Authenticity: Delivered with the artist’s official certificate of authenticity. • Shipping: The artwork will be sent with a random number, subject to stock availability. Delivery information: You will receive our shipments, both domestic and international, exclusively via DHL Express, our logistics partner. The artworks are shipped from the artist based in the United States to our logistics platform in France, which handles import and customs clearance, before being individually returned to our collectors without any constraints. The transport cost includes all fees from the United States to your home. IMPORTANT: NEVER accept a damaged parcel without opening and inspecting it. If the work is damaged, you must refuse delivery and indicate the reason for refusal on the delivery note, noting issues such as “broken,” “scratched,” “damaged,” or “bent.” If only the packaging is damaged but the contents are intact, you may accept the parcel. Karl Lagasse, a renowned artist, gained prominence in 2009 with his One Dollar sculptures, ranking that same year among the top ten sculptors under 30 according to Artprice. In 2012, the New York publication Farameh named him as one of the fifty best contemporary artists, inspired by traditional American icons, in its book FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art. More recently, in 2016, during the Art Paris Art Fair, the President of the French Republic warmly congratulated Karl for his impressive two-meter bronze sculpture One Dollar, exhibited at the Grand Palais. Karl’s artistic journey began at age 7 with collages, sparked by his meeting with sculptor César Baldaccini. He then turned to tagging and graffiti in the Paris metro while remaining passionate about collages. The artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to fuse his tags with his collages. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, which led to his first solo show in 2006 at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels. In 2008, he returned to Paris with an exhibition combining paintings, sculptures, and video elements at the Espace Pierre Cardin. 2026: - Finalization of the work One Dollar Green Bronze 8 meters, weighing 7 tons. The largest One Dollar sculpture in the world created by the artist. 2025: - Installation of the monumental work Reflection of the Sun. Installed near the brand-new Pavillon des Bains, on the Promenade Michel d’Ornano, inaugurated by mayor Philippe Augier on September 8. 2024: - Art Miami - Group exhibitions Galerie Nicolas Auvray New York. For the occasion, a bronze cryptogram of 1m80 and a 2-meter One Dollar were exhibited during the event. - 50th anniversary of the Deauville American Film Festival; for the occasion, the artist created 18 bronze trophies as well as a 2-meter sculpture to be installed at the CID. The artists interviewed about the artist and who received the trophy are: Michael Douglas, Daisy Ridley, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Mikey Madison... 2023: - Aspen Saint Regis: Installation of the 2-meter One Dollar in front of the St. Regis. The Aspen Times covered the event in a dedicated article. - Rapper Rick Ross posed with a special St. Regis edition One Dollar. 2022: - New York: Times Square, projection on the Nasdaq screen of the piece “A One Dollar in the Cyberspace City.” - American Film Festival trophy for Thandiwe Newton, Jesse Eisenberg, Ana de Armas… 2021: - New studio in Austin, Texas, USA. - Solo exhibition of the artist. - Finalization of the sculpture “Ascension of Christ” after several years of work. - Casting at Fonderia Del Chiaro (Italy) Pietrasanta. 2020: - Beginning of work on the largest piece ever created by the artist: the One Dollar Bronze Green 8 Meters. - Deauville American Film Festival: he creates a new sculpture in collaboration with the city of Deauville, inspired by the barriers of Deauville’s promenade (the boards). 2019: - Deauville American Film Festival: the artist created a new sculpture, representing his dollar engraved in aluminum. - The artists who received the work that year are: Johnny Depp, Sophie Turner, Pierce Brosnan, Geena Davis... 2018: - Creation of a new sculpture for the Deauville American Film Festival trophy; among the artists who received the trophy sculpture are: Morgan Freeman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Elle Fanning, Jason Clarke and many others... - Group exhibitions Galerie Art Expo. - Several One Dollar sculptures by the artist exhibited inside the Royal Monceau Hotel. - The artist painted a monumental work on a 54-meter wall, Psalm 4, at the Street Art Museum in Brussels. 2017: - Karl Lagasse succeeds the prestigious Cartier Maison in creating the trophies for the Deauville American Film Festival. 2016: - Art Fair Paris at the Grand Palais - A two-meter-tall “One Dollar,” fully cast in bronze, was exhibited at the Art Paris fair. - The French president visited the exhibition and personally congratulated the artist for his work. - First in Spain at the Atrium gallery in Marbella, solo exhibition with new collections in the presence of international press and the city’s mayor, Jose Bernal Gutierrez. Special performance by his wife, opera singer Cherise Lagasse, who performed pieces from her repertoire. 2015: - Second collaboration with Maserati with the creation of a monumental installation entitled “A Piece of Heaven on Earth.” This work consists of a Maserati covered with a white plastic film and a sculpture of Jesus Christ. Around the car, several sculptures representing one-dollar bills are placed on the ground, symbolizing the repayment of humanity’s greatest debt. - Art Paris - Galerie Michel Vidal 2014: - Maserati presents worldwide the Maserati Ghibli redesigned by artist Karl Lagasse on the occasion of the brand’s 100th anniversary. - Solo exhibition at the Italian embassy in Paris. The Italian ambassador in France organized a dinner in his presence, around the artist’s works. 2013: - Collective exhibition Automobile Club de France, Place de la Concorde, Paris. 2012: - Karl donated to the city of Deauville a bronze Crytogram One sculpture, permanently at the city entrance. - For the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Festival, Karl created a sculpture “Building” composed of a collage of photos recounting the festival’s key moments.
