Sculpture Aluminum and wood "One dollar minimalist Brown" – Marone on white American crate Artist: Karl Lagasse Magnificent sculpture representing the famous American banknote in its wooden case, made in aluminum by the artist. Each work is unique in that it is folded and shaped by hand. Karl Lagasse. This unique piece blends modernity and prestige. • Details: Signed artwork and numbered on the back. • Edition: Hand-formed edition by Karl Lagasse, each piece is unique, with a certificate • Authenticity: Delivered with the artist’s official certificate of authenticity. • Shipping: The artwork will be sent with a random number, depending on stock availability. Delivery information: You will receive our shipments, both national and international, exclusively via DHL Express, our logistics partner. The works are shipped from the artist based in the United States to our logistics platform in France, which handles import and customs clearance, before being returned individually to our collectors without any constraint. Shipping costs include all fees from the United States to your home. IMPORTANT: NEVER accept a damaged package without opening and inspecting it. Karl Lagasse, a renowned artist, gained prominence in 2009 with his One Dollar sculptures, ranking among the top ten sculptors under 30 years old according to Artprice in that same year. In 2012, the New York publication Farameh named him as one of the fifty best contemporary artists, inspired by traditional American icons, in its volume FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art. More recently, in 2016, at the Art Paris Art Fair, the President of the French Republic warmly congratulated Karl for his impressive 2-meter bronze sculpture One Dollar, exhibited at the Grand Palais. Karl's artistic journey began at age 7 with collages, prompted by his meeting with sculptor César Baldaccini. He then turned to tagging and graffiti in the Paris metro while remaining passionate about collages. The artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to fuse his tags with his collages. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, which led to his first solo show in 2006 at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels. In 2008, he returned to Paris with an exhibition combining paintings, sculptures, and video elements at the Espace Pierre Cardin. Karl particularly enjoys unveiling his works at international exhibitions. In 2011, he was represented by the Bel Air Fine Art gallery at the Art Monaco fair with his Cryptogram One. The following year, he presented his One Dollar works on the theme “In God We Trust” at the Artco France gallery. His 2016 solo show at the Atrium gallery in Marbella, Spain, was inaugurated by the mayor, who praised his works in front of the international press. Installed near the newly built Pavilion of Baths, on the Promenade Michel d’Ornano, inaugurated by Mayor Philippe Augier on September 8. 2024: - Art Miami - Collective exhibitions Galerie Nicolas Auvray New York. For the occasion, a bronze cryptogram of 1m80 and a 2-meter One Dollar were exhibited during the event. - 50th anniversary of the Deauville American Film Festival; for the occasion, the artist created 18 bronze trophies as well as a 2-meter sculpture to be installed at the CID. The artists interviewed about the artist and who received the trophy include: Michael Douglas, Daisy Ridley, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Mikey Madison... 2023: - Aspen Saint Regis: Installation of the 2-meter One Dollar in front of the St Regis. Special performance by his wife, opera singer Cherise Lagasse, who performed pieces from her repertoire. 2015: - Second collaboration with Maserati with the creation of a monumental installation titled “A Piece of Heaven on Earth.” This work comprises a Maserati covered with a white plastic film and a sculpture of Jesus Christ. Around the car, several dollar bill sculptures are placed on the ground, symbolizing the repayment of humanity’s greatest debt - Art Paris - Galerie Michel Vidal 2014: - Maserati presents worldwide the Maserati Ghibli revisited by Karl Lagasse on the occasion of the brand’s 100th anniversary. - Solo exhibition at the Italian Embassy in Paris.
