Karaktervolle Mechelse kapstok – rijk houtsnijwerk

Characterful Mechelen coat rack – rich wood carving, lion heads and five double hooks An entrance with character starts with a distinctive piece of furniture. This handsome wall coat rack in Mechelen style combines warm brown wood with exuberant carving and gold-colored fittings. A practical and decorative eye-catcher for the hall, vestibule or wardrobe. The wide central panel is decorated with a symmetrical motif of graceful scrolls and a central leaf ornament. On either side stand expressive lion heads with metal rings in their mouths. The protruding, profiled hat shelf forms a beautiful crown and provides space for hats or a few carefully chosen accessories. The five double coat hooks have decorative mounting plates and create a warm contrast with the dark wood. The design aligns with the Mechelen furniture tradition, in which rich woodcarving and Renaissance influences play an important role. Especially in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, such furniture was beloved for its pronounced appearance and decorative details.
