Giulio Pace – Isagogicorum – Elzevirian edition, Amsterdam, Ludovicus Elzevirius, 1657 Elzevirian edition of Giulio Pace’s Isagogicorum, printed in Amsterdam in 1657 at the workshop of Ludovico Elzevier, belonging to the Elzevir family, one of the most famous printers and publishers in Europe of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The frontispiece, printed in red and black and adorned with the figurative printer’s mark, bears the inscription Ex Officina Ludovici Elzevirii and the phrase Editio postrema, prioribus castigatior. The text, in Latin, is dedicated to the Imperial Institutes, the Digest or Pandects, the Codex and the Decretals. The author is indicated on the frontispiece in the form Julii Pacii a Beriga. The volume counts 672 pages, in addition to 20 pages of index, and is accompanied by a folded table. Headpieces, tailpieces and woodcut initials ornament the text. Binding with stiff boards entirely covered in parchment. Copy in excellent overall condition. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
