Collection of 6 decorative ceramic vases and amphorae – Renaissance-inspired and historied motifs – Italy Description Curious and decorative collection consisting of six small glazed ceramic vases and amphorae, differing in shape and decoration but united by a reference to the tradition of Italian maiolica. Each piece features a different motif: multicolored geometric decorations, botanical motifs, human figures, fantastic animals, and blue monocrome compositions. Particularly characteristic is the white-and-blue amphora with sculpted animal-head handles, decorated with figures and landscape; on the back there is also the inscription “Acq. Boraginis,” with a pharmaceutical/pharmacopoeia taste. The other items reinterpret typical motifs of Italian decorative ceramics: one vase shows a figurative scene with a woman and child, another a male profile in historical clothing, another a large fantastical/deer-like animal in blue monocrome, while the large bi-colour two-tone amphora is characterized by a lively geometric decoration in orange, yellow, green and blue tones. The lot thus offers a pleasant ensemble of different shapes and decorations, particularly suitable for a ceramics collection, for a shelf composition, or for decorative display.
